The rules

How it works

Everything that decides a player's place on BvPTiers, in one page.

Points

Every mode has five tiers, Tier 1 (best) to Tier 5, each split into High (HT) and Low (LT). Each tier is worth a fixed number of points. These are the community-standard values, so you can compare across tier lists.

TierHighPointsLowPoints
Tier 1 GoldHT160LT145
Tier 2 SilverHT230LT220
Tier 3 BronzeHT310LT36
Tier 4 SteelHT44LT43
Tier 5 SlateHT52LT51

High tiers are shown as filled chips, low tiers as outlined chips, so you can tell them apart at a glance: HT2 vs LT2.

Titles

Your title comes from your overall points. It is our own ladder, topped by the Apex Beast.

Apex Beast400+ pts
Warlord250+ pts
Elite100+ pts
Veteran50+ pts
Contender20+ pts
Fighter10+ pts
Rookie1+ pts

Players with 0 points are Unranked and don't appear on the boards.

Peak vs current

Current tier

The result of your latest test in that mode. It can go up or down.

Peak tier

The best tier you ever reached in that mode. It never goes down on its own.

Recording a result better than your peak raises the peak. A worse result only changes your current tier.

Overall vs active

Overall points

The sum over every mode of your peak tier's points (current if there is no peak). Retired tiers count.

Active points

The sum of your current, non-retired tiers only. This is the Active board.

Both boards rank by points, highest first. Equal points share a rank, and ties are ordered by best single tier, then by name.

Retired tiers

When a player stops competing in a mode, their tier can be marked retired. It keeps its colour but is shown desaturated with a dashed outline and an R prefix: RHT1. Retired tiers still count for overall points, not for active points. Each mode board has a Retired view.

Regions

Players pick the region they usually play from. Every board can be filtered by region, and ranks are then counted inside that region.

How testing works

How to get tested

  1. Join the Discord and read the rules of the mode you want to be tested in.
  2. Open a ticket in that mode's queue with your Minecraft name and region.
  3. Play your test against a tester. Tests are short sets of fights, and the tester looks at the rubric on the mode page, not only at who wins.
  4. Get your tier. The result shows up on the site within a minute, in the rankings and on your profile.

You can ask for a retest after 14 days. Your peak tier always stays on your profile.

FAQ

How long until my result shows up?

Right away. The site and the API update the moment a tester records your result; the mod picks it up within its refresh interval (10 minutes by default).

Can I lose my peak?

No. Your peak only goes up. If a retest puts you lower, your current tier drops but your peak (and your overall points) stay.

Why do two players share a rank?

Players with exactly the same points share the rank (1, 2, 2, 4). Inside a tie, the list is ordered by best single tier, then by name.

What happens if I change my Minecraft name?

Profiles are tied to your account UUID, and names are refreshed from Mojang automatically. Old profile links that use your UUID keep working.

Is this an official Minecraft or Mojang site?

No. BvPTiers is a community project and is not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft.
